Sixty Years of Printing in Wrexham

In 1948, when Ron Bentley decided to convert his hobby of printing into a business, many printing companies were still using methods not so far removed from those which were used by William Caxton when he introduced printing to the UK, almost five centuries earlier.

As a sole trader then, in later years, as "Ron Bentley & Sons Ltd", the Bentley family have traded for more than 60 years. During this time, methods and technology used in the printing industry have changed at an ever-increasing pace.

Determined to keep at the forefront of technology, they invested continually and many items of plant and equipment that became redundant were put into storage. This large collection includes Ron’s two "hobby" presses and the treadle-operated press with which he started the business.

Information and pictures are being gathered, to show on this website the history of which David and Philip are so proud.
